Bleacher Report Lists 3 Potential Free Agent Targets For Toronto
Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors are going to have a busy offseason ahead.

They have the 2024 NBA Draft and then they will navigate free agency starting on June 30.

The Raptors could have some significant cap space to work with this offseason. If they let Gary Trent Jr. and Bruce Brown go that should open up around $47 million in cap space.

Bleacher Report recently listed three potential free agent targets for the Raptors this summer and put them into three categorizes: reasonable, optimistic and dream.

For their reasonable category, Bleacher Report lists Malik Monk. If the Raptors let Trent Jr. and Bruce Brown walk they will need to add a shooting guard. Gradey Dick may not be ready to take the reins as a starter just yet, so the Raptors could get their starting shooting guard in Monk. The Raptors also need three-point shooting and Monk would provide that. Monk has shot it 37.8 percent from deep over the last four seasons which isn’t bad. Raptors targeting Monk would make a ton of sense.

For their optimistic category, Bleacher Report has Klay Thompson. Thompson is 34-years-old and is clearly on the decline. Still, he can provide steady three-point shooting which will make him valuable on the open market. If the Raptors want to add a proven veteran to the starting lineup and someone with championship pedigree then Thompson could be an option. However, at this point of Toronto’s rebuild it just doesn’t make sense.

Finally, Buddy Hield is listed as the dream scenario for Toronto. Hield is a great three-point shooter and he would instantly help the Raptors with something they’ve struggled with over the past few seasons. Hield would be a great floor spacer for Toronto and would compliment Barnes well. He’s going to be one of the top names available this summer. The Philadelphia 76ers have Hield’s Bird Rights so they will likely re-sign him.

Spurs could have interest in Immanuel Quickley

The Raptors main priority this summer will be locking up Immanuel Quickley.

However, teams with a ton of cap space who need a young guard like the San Antonio Spurs could make things interesting.

Still, the Raptors will have the ability to match any deal Quickley might get from another team since he’s restricted.
