1 Huge Detail on Dallas Mavericks’ Massive Jason Kidd Extension, Revealed
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks know how hard it is to find a capable head coach who can maximize the talents of their superstar guard and the rest of the roster. Due to this fact, it’s understandable why they’re eager to keep Jason Kidd with the team.

He’s been the perfect tactician who brought the best out of Luka Doncic since he played a similar play style to him. Moreover, he’s been able to seamlessly integrate Kyrie Irving into the team and turn the Mavericks into a tricky opponent that not all NBA teams have the proper answer to.

This and the fact that the Mavericks have put up a decent account for themselves in the postseason is a major reason why the Mavericks have moved forward with giving the one-time champion an extended stay with the team.

Dallas Mavericks add two more years to Jason Kidd’s head coaching contract

According to ClutchPoints’ Joey Mistretta, Kidd will be getting two more years added to his current multi-year deal with the franchise. This effectively gives him at least four years in charge of the Mavericks if everything continues to go well with how he’s running the team.

This is great news for Kidd and the Mavericks fanbase as he’s proven to be a great fit for how the Mavs play their game. The roster immediately felt the impact of his coaching, with the team reaching the Western Conference Finals in his first year as a coach.

While the 2022-23 season saw them take a step back, they immediately returned to postseason play the next season, beating long-time rivals Los Angeles Clippers in the process.

Their current series against the Oklahoma City Thunder hasn’t been easy, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the rest of the Thunder roster evening out the series. However, the team is confident that as long as Jason Kidd is coaching Luka and Kyrie, they can reach their second Western Conference Finals in three years.
